All you are doing in SOC is duplicating the actions of your upline with your downline.
That's it! That's all there is to it. Enough said. Time for a vacation. Ok, not quite.
What does this mean?
1. Learn the SOC system - get very familiar with it so that you can do anything it can offer and know how to handle questions directed at you. I have spent plenty of time watching webinars, and just reading the FAQ at the website. I've spent hours listening to Todd. Jordan, Shannon and others on the various websites available to help you build your business. Know your tool!
This is not so different than a craftsman knowing how to use his saw to produce a cut. What I strive for and what I urge you to do is get to the point where you not only "make the cut" but you become as humanly close to perfect in doing it. Hence, know your tool. Know the Send Out Cards system. Be able to answer any questions and one of the best ways of doing this is study the system and when you find something you don't get, find the answer to YOUR question. I guarantee that if you read something that you didn't get, chances are someone else out there did too.
By full knowing, you will have more control over it.
2. Use the system. Makes selling it a lot easier. If you have not personally experienced the POWER of sending out communication on a personal level to people then you haven't a) been involved with SOC long enough or b) haven't sent ENOUGH cards out. Start using this system everyday. Try to send 1-2 personal cards a day in addition to whatever business cards you send.
I have met salesmen that don't use their own products. In fact sometimes they use the competitions products. If you don't like something don't endorse it. If you are just taking my word for it - don't. Send Out Cards will improve statistics in your organization because it follows some basic universal laws. You send something OUT and something always comes back IN.
3. Tell others about SOC and how it can benefit their personal lives and their business. This step is easier when 1 and 2 are in!
There's a hundred ways to find people (some ideas below) ... but you probably already know people. You probably know people that have businesses. You probably know people who like to communicate with people. You probably know people who don't like to communicate with people but should and probably would if you showed them something simple. Start simple. Approach a friend (not one you haven't talked to in 10 years) that you are regularly hearing from and find out what they think.
It's a no brainer for people once the system has been presented correctly.
4. Sign up and then HELP your sign-ups LEARN and use the system. Get them sending cards.
To truly be able to grow, maintain and expand your organization, you need to be a leader. Help the people you sign up to get as good and saavy with the system as you have become. If you fail to do this and just hold hands you will find yourself training THEIR organization (downline).
So make sure you train the people you sign up. If they are just a card sender, train them to send cards. Get them to get their feet wet and start doing it. The program doesn't bite ... often.
5. Your sign ups start at #1 above. Your new roll is support, help, further training ...
That's it. That's the WHOLE cycle of duplication in this company. Learn it, use it, show others, get them going, get them to show others .... that's really it.
Now there are tips and tricks to sales and what not but those things are found on the sites of other people mostly. You'll find some of those tips here, but you will also find those linked throughout the site.
A tid bit more advice
This is a numbers game. Don't get stuck in on one prospect. If the cycle isn't resolving rapidly, move on, find others, but stay in touch. Keep sending them cards. Don't give yourself a loss by focusing on the one guy who isn't closing. There are plenty of people out there and plenty of them need to be promoting their businesses. Don't try to convince them that they need this or they will fail. If they fail, send em a card and tell them it is still available (use tact).
And where do we find people?
Here are some ideas taken from one of Jordan's webcasts:
1) taking classes, could be school, could be motorcycle training, could be whatever
2) attend seminars, whether it be in your other profession, or just learning something
3) trade shows
4) networking events, plenty of them come to Seattle ALL THE TIME
5) networking clubs
6) social networking, such as on facebook, myspace, etc. Reconnect with old friends.
7) personal introductions
8) association membership activities
9) sports and recreational clubs
10) volunteer organizations; your church, farmer's market, etc.
11) Neighborhood organizations
12) Schools, where your kids go, if you have kids
